In 2024, Oregonians made more than 2.5 million visits to food pantries and free meal programs, a record high and a 31% increase from the year before. Food insecurity is growing, fueled by the rising cost of food and housing, and disproportionately impacting Black, Indigenous, immigrant, rural, and low-income communities.
We’re in the middle of a hunger crisis. So what can we do?
Join Slow Food Portland for a timely convivium and panel discussion featuring leaders and organizers on the front lines of fighting hunger in Oregon. Together, we’ll explore:
Impacts of recent and upcoming policy shifts
Urban and rural dynamics in food access
Tangible ways to advocate, organize, and take action
At Slow Food Portland, we believe everyone has the right to enjoy this region’s incredible food, and no one should be hungry. Addressing food insecurity is essential to building a food system that is good, clean, and fair for all.
