Social impact experience: Urban farm tour in Cully

  • The Side Yard Farm and Kitchen 4800 Northeast Simpson Street Portland, OR, 97218 United States (map)

Join us in traversing the patchwork of farms in the Cully neighborhood of northeast Portland. Urban agriculture is growing strong in this community where lots are large and aspiring farmers abound.

During this tour, you will visit two urban farms - The Side Yard Farm & Kitchen and Cully Neighborhood Farm - each with their own unique story. During the 1-mile round trip walk between farms you will learn about the diverse and changing Cully neighborhood and some of Portland’s alternative food and farm business models.

This tour includes a beautifully curated lunch of farm-fresh seasonal vegetables and whole-grain bread & dessert from local artisan bakers. Gluten-free options are available upon request.

Please come prepared to be on your feet with sturdy shoes for walking on uneven terrain. Don't forget to apply sunscreen and bring your water bottle to stay hydrated. We look forward to exploring this urban farm landscape with you!

Slow Food Portland supports Slow Food USA’s mission to create dramatic and lasting change in the food system, and promote a food system that is good, clean and fair for all. On a local and regional level we work to reconnect with people, traditions, plants, animals, fertile soils and waters that produce our food. We work to raise awareness and engagement in our community to help transform food policy, production practices, and market forces to ensure equity, sustainability, and pleasure in the food we eat. Your contribution helps support our work! Thank you!
